As I understand it it was the Eastern Tenessee Union Troops that attacked the munitions depot in Buncombe/Henderson County (Fletcher NC, and Battle of Asheville near UNCA). I doubt they were Confederate and from Tennessee so I doubt any Watts from Yancey would be Confederate and more Union with their Tennessee neighbors/relatives. Contact the Smith-McDowell Museum on the AB-Tech Campus about local Confederate history involved in the Western Carolina area inculding those counties, they may have better resources. Watts, Watt, Watson, Walter are too common names in the area and there is a high probability that one Watts is not related to another. The Watts name in this area spans Scotch-Irish, African-American, and Cherokee. I never met a Watts I was related to in the area, good luck.
