Thanks so much for the valuable info. However, I have a few discrepancies and I am seeking correct info. Perhaps this will help us get at the truth.
First:I have Nancy Watts marrying Meredith Lawrence on October 13, 1809 in Clark Co., KY.Therefore, it must be an error that she died in 1789.
Second: My info differs with Howard Watts.I have him born on Oct. 8, 1793 (Just as you have) I have him dying on Sept 17, 1876 in Indiana, not 1885.I have him marrying Prudence Collins on April 22, 1822 in Boone Co., Indiana, not 1818.
Third:I have Mary Watts marrying 1st John Arnold on Jan. 5, 1820 and 2nd marrying Samuel Shearer.
Forth: I only have ten children listed.I didn't have Willis or James Madison.
My information came mostly from the book entitled "FOX - Cousins by the Dozens" by Nellie Fox Adams and Bertha Fox Walton, and info from Julius Watts' tombstone. Also, a brochure I have from his grave Marking by the National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812, State of Ky, River Raisin Chapter includes the following information:
" Julius Watts 1765-1849Julius Watts, son of Sarah Barnett and John Watts was born October 4, 1765 in Culpepper Co., Virginia. He married Mary Eve on December 22, 1785 in Orange Co., Virginia.Ten Children were born to them.In 1788, Julius moved to Madison Co., KY with his wife, two children, his parents and siblings. An early active member of Providence Baptist Church (Old Stone Church) in Clark County.Julius owned land and slaves in Madison and Clark County. He served as constable several times and was active in community affairs. He served in the war of 1812 in Capt. Joseph Clark's Company, 3rd Regiment Kentucky Mounted Riflemen.
Julius died on June 23, 1849 in Clark County, being cared for by his son John T. Watts during his last days."
(His tombstone very clearly gives his death date as Jan the 23, 1849, Not January 23, 1849.
Can you tell me more about the Ed Watts book?I descend from this family and would appreciate exchanging info.
