1820 Conecuh County, AL: Thomas Watts resident here at this time was the UNCLE of Thomas R. Watts.History records of Conecuh record he was a practising attorney resident in old Sparta and later moved to Lowndes-Dallas-Green Counties.He was born 18 February 1786 VA and died 29 August 1840 in Dallas County, AL married to Sarah Wade and had three surviving children.His last will and testament was recorded in Greene County with his sons Edward T. and Simeon A. Watts as executors.
1830 Conecuh County, AL: Thomas Watts family NOT same as Thomas R. Watts b. 1799, eldest son of Charles Watts and first wife Jenny Watson (m. 1798 Oglethorpe Co., GA).Thomas R. Watts married in Monroe County, AL on 7 February 1838 a widow, Mary House Marshall Tiller, daughter of Martin Marshall, Sr.She is buried near her parents and next to their infant son in McConnico Cemetery Purdue Hill, Monroe County, AL.Thomas R. Watts is enumerated in Monroe County, AL in 1840.

Mary House Marshall Tiller Watts died 14 December 1843 at age 37.In February 1844, Thomas R. Watts was appointed guardian of his daughter, Mary Jane or Sarah Jane) Watts, a minor.He is believed to ahve died in Mobile after 1850.
He did indeed purchase 80 acres of land in Conecuh County, AL in August 1837.August 24, 1838, Thomas R. Watts and his wife, Mary H. Watts sold two lots, Lots 250 & 251, at Claiborne to Mary's brother, John L. Marshall.

1840 Conecuh County, AL Census:Not Thomas R. Watts but is the following Thomas Watts who is found in Lauderdale County, MS in 1850.
Another Thomas Watts, with a brother Daniel Watts, sons of Benjamin Watts of South Carolina, lived in Conecuh County and purchased adjacent land there about 1837.They are both enumerated in1840.

The above census data is taken directly from the actual Microfilm records of the respective counties.The latter 1840 record matches the 1850 Lauderdale County, MS record.Otherwise, none or the others coincide from census to census.
Daniel Watts, above mentioned, remained in Conecuh County until about 1880 when he moved to Pike County.His brother Thomas, of the 1840 Conecuh record, had a son named Benjamin who later moved to Conecuh County where he was enumerated in 1860 near his Uncle Daniel.
