Jana, The information I have as far back as John "Young Tassel" Watts and his father has come from Cherokee history books, the internet and other people researching this line. The information I have is that Trader John Watts was b. abt. 1725 in Caroline Co., VA and died Bef. Mar. 1771. His son, Chief John, was born abt. 1750 and d. 1808 in Willstown, which is now DeKalb Co., AL. The only Alexander I have born close to 1803 is a William Alexander, born 1823, with brothers John Harvey, b. 1824 and James Albert, b. 1829. These were sons of a John Watts, b. abt. 1780 in VA and d. 1865 in AR. He may have been a son of Chief John. There are many John Watts and it can be very confusing. Is the family history book you referred to from a private Watts family or one available to the public?
