There were two Loyalists who were named,John Watts, according to the book by Esther Clark Wright "The Loyalists of New Brunswick".One was with the 74th and the other was from New York.
In the New Brunswick Magazine, Vol. 1, No. 3 September, 1898 there is an article entitled "Kemble Manor:an early landgrant on the St. John River".In it is the following passage:"John Watts was a member of the Council of New York and a prominent man in the colony, wealthy and honourable. He was also a Loyalist during the Revolution, and lost in consequence his estates, and died in England."
It occurs to me that if this is the John Pond you are researching and he was both wealthy and in politics there should be more information available on him in archives in New York.
