John Watts, Sr. was a trader that was hired by Christian Quest, grandfather of Sequoia, to work for the Virginia Trading Co.He is mentioned as early as 1756 in reports. He later work as an interpreter reporting to John & Charles Stewart agents of the British goverment. His Cherokee wife was said to have been a sister to Sequoia's mother.He died winter of 1869/70.
