The WATTS side of my family is from the Tidewater area. I happened to see your posting as I was browsing today. Have you checked with the historic preservation society in Portsmouth, VA? There is a WATTS house there.. which was the home of Captain Samuel Watts. His father, Col. Dempsey Watts built the house around 1799 I believe. Captain Watts owned my descendents, Sophia and Henry.
I don't know if these are the "right" Watts', but, that's what I know.
