To all interested in Watton family of Ruiton,
I am the 3rd generation of William Watton, my dad being William Charles and Grandfather being William (Billy Earrings). The family is also known as the Connors or the Salters. Our ancestors are Vodos, Romany gypsy, also known as Hawkers. Our oldest living relative is my grandmother, Louisa (louie) Watton who is about to turn 101 years old on 7th June 2003. Her husband, Billy earrings, bought the family to Ruiton to settle from Manchester, buying property and land. His house was the old mill house built entirely of sandstone and was 103 years old when bought by developers and demolished. Louisa had 7 children,5 girls,2 boys and has outlived 2 of them and currently trying to outlive the rest. The family name is extremely strong in the area due to all of us having many children, myself having 4. I would like to hear from any other family members as we are such a large clan, and being gypsies have travelled far and wide.
