I am looking for help in establishing a connection between my McLean family and the Watt family. The 1851 Census of St. Andrews E., Argenteuil (Deux Montagnes), Quebec lists a Watts/Watt family living with my ggg-grandmother Margerry Cameron/McLean/Slaven. They are listed as family. The list begins with an Ellen McLean b. ca 1806 QC - there is a seeming mistake in the census as she is listed as single. Most likely seeing the census often listed the maiden name of the wife, the census taker listed hers. She is in fact not single but a widow. The children include (from various sources): 1) Marg. or Mary b. ca 1841; 2) Ellen b. 1832 as per other records who married Joseph Davidson/Davison and died 1911 in Grenville if the dau. of Thomas Watt; 3) Marg. or Mary b. abt 1833; 4) Thomas b. abt 1837 if Thomas Watt is father; 5) Kate b. abt 1845; and 6) David b. abt 1846. Did Ellen McLean marry Thomas Watt? I am looking for confirmation of this marriage. Any help with this or the McLeans would be appreciated. or to put it differently: I am looking for a confirmation of a parentage for Ellen Watt who married Joseph Davidson. She was apparently born 24 Jan 1832 in Hawkesbury, and lived most of her later life in Grenville, QC. She died 09 May 1911 in QC. On the transcript of her tombstone (sent to me by another researcher) it says second daughter of Thomas Watt. In the 1851 census for St. Andrews, Argenteuil, QC an Ellen Watt is listed with an Ellen McLean (presumably her mother). I am looking for confirmation of this connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Notify Administrator about this message?
