Update! More clues...
I believe I found Edward Watson in the 1870 and 1880 census as well as his death record.
In 1870 it appears he is in New York, age 28 a cabinet maker born in MA, rooming with a couple of Rollins boys, AH,age 28 and Lafeyette age 20 who are also cabinet makers and are from Maine. (I found them also in Chesterville, ME, which is where Edward Watson married Villa Norcross.)
In 1880 Edward Watson age 38, born in MA cabinet maker,is a boarder in Chicago, Illinois. (There is also a Mary Watson, age 20, born in MA, both are single.)
A Minnesota death record has Edward H. Watson age 49 cabinet maker died 04 May 1890.
I found him using:

He may have had a brother Joseph Watson who married Harriet Pierce08 Feb 1870 in Hartford, Vermont. Their marriage record has lists him as age 29 and born in Charlestown, MA. His father is Roswell Goodline (Watson) and his mother is Cross... Joseph and Hattie lived in Lebanon,Grafton, NH in 1870. I can't find them in 1880. They had a daughter Katie Bell Watson born in Fayette, ME abt 1876 but she died in Alexandria, Grafton, NH on 31 Jan 1884 age 7 years 11 months 12 days. George E. Watson also appears to be the son of Joe and Hattie, he was born in CT about 1873. He lived in Alexandria, Grafton, NH, his father was born in MA and mother NY which is where Joe and Harriet were born. The only Roswell Watson I could find does not seem to have children named Joseph nor Edward who survived. He lived in Spencer, Wocester, MA and his wife was Hannah Grout. I also looked for Roswell Goodline, Goodline Roswell and any variations I could think of to no avail. So it looks like Edward moved around quite a bit. Born in MA, lived in NY, NH, married in ME, lived in NH, PA, IL and died in MO!!! And Joseph was born in MA, lived in NH, CT and ME. Still looking!!
