Thank you for this sleuthing, I see about the other John Watsons. Actually, it wouldn't be what I would expect to find John's father buried in TN, I rather think he would be in Detroit. I wonder if there is such a cemetery project up there? I'll put out a question on a Michigan blog, maybe something will turn up.
What is this Commercial Appeal? Is it available to the public, is it restricted to officials, is there someone whose job it could be to go through them? could we go through them at some point? Are these complete records of all deaths for that year in TN, or in the whole US, and are they connected to the burial records?
