Have you considered the possibility that George Davison had a sister or a neice that married a Watson, she could have been g neice?
Hannah and George Davison are on the 1870 Allegan Census:
260 268 Davison, Geo W, 22, butcher, NY, married Jan
Hannah M, 25, Ohio, married Jan
1860 Allegan Mich
200 180 Squie, Davison 35 NY
Elizabeth 33 NY
Martin V, 19 NY
Ira 17 NY
George W 11, NY
Thanie? (Nathaniel?) 6 NY
Mary 4, NY
Julia, 2 NY
Harriet 3/12, Michigan
1850 Seneca NY; Tyre
921 Squire Davison 29, cooper NY
Elizabeth 25 NY
Martin, 6 NY
Ira 5, NY
George 8 NY
Wm H, 3/12
922 William Davison 70 NJ
Mary 65 NJ
From looking at the 1860 Summit census, I wouldn't have thought that Hannah M Davison was a Merriman, but was an O'neil:
1860 Summit Ohio
791 776 S R Merriam 76 Conn.
Hannan Merriam 53 England
Hannah M O'Neil 15 Ohio
1850 Summit Ohio
67 80 James O'Neil 45, Eng
Ann 45, England
Daniel W 10 Ohio
Harrison ? 8 Ohio
Hannah M, 5, Ohio
1850 Hartford Conn
322373 Stephen Merriman ?3, black smith
Hannah 42
You list Hannah Merriman as an O'Neil, and I assume so also, but if the 1850 census is correct, she would not be mother in law to George Davis, but maybe Hannah M Davis's Aunt. If that relationship is listed wrong, maybe the neice is also incorrect.
