Robert Thompson 7/23/02
I hope you have found your Tennessee relatives.I am trying to find a Tennessee Thompson family with a Robert Thompson being born around the 1840s time frame, possibly in Mississippi, before moving to Tennessee and worked for the Memphis Police Department, Shelby County, Tennessee after the Civil War apparently for a number of years. He had a number of brothers and sisters. One of his brothers stayed in Tennessee through adulthood by the name of Columbus Thompson.A younger brother, "Jeff", "J.T", and "T.J." Thomas Jefferson Thompson born January 4, 1851 in Mississippi to a Scottish immigrant father and a Mississippi native mother whose names are unknown and locations unknown.Unfortunately, both of the parents died at an early age.Apparently Thomas Jefferson Thompson was still young when this happened and was raised in Arkansas before moving to Texas as an adult; whereas, Robert and Columbus Thompson were apparently older and remained behind in Tennessee according to family oral and written lore.
I wonder if we could be talking about the same family?Respectfully, Mike Smith, San Antonio, Texas [email protected]
