Hello Glenda,
I have a Rachel Watkinson in my database, baptised 7 September in 1892 at St Oswald's Parish Church in Filey and the daughter of Joseph & Rachel nee Wharfe. Joseph was born in Filey & rachel in Scarborough. It would seem that they had at least 11 children. There was an elderly Sea Captain in Scarborough (local hero) who died last year who told me about Joseph & Rachel. They went over to Wales for a few years and the eldest children apparently stayed there. Some of them came back to the East Coast. Joesph's nickname was 'Slosh'.
I don't know if this the the right Rachel, but the date fits although I haven't got around to all the marriages yet.
There isn't a Registrar in Filey - the nearest was Scarborough or Bridlington, but i found out recently that the records have been moved I think to Richmond but I'll check as I need some certificates myself. I'm not a Watkinson by the way, I am fascinated by local and family history and have a number of copies of transcripts etc
Kath Wilkie - Filey
