Good day,

I'm also chasing a Washington County, Ga., Civil War soldier: George W. Warthen (b. c. 1835).

Briefly in the 15th Georgia Infantry, he served through the War in the 28th Infantry. He was Lieutenant or Captain, Co. F, and at least briefly in command of the Regiment at Sharpsburg as senior officer still standing (9/17/1862).

I believe his parents were farmer William B. and wife Malinda; younger sister Vinitus and younger brother William H., according to the 1860 Federal Census for Wash Co.

I have a very brief bio sketch here:

I'd love to hear from anyone with documented details about his service and/or life. Best to all the Warthens and desendents,

Brian Downey
