Im not sure if you're interested in this info. or if it is of any use. Family stories in Gloucestershire(England) suggest that the original family name was Wathen but two brothers fell out and that one brother paid to have an R put in to his surname to distinguish his part of the family to the others. I believe they lived in a village called Frampton on Severn in Gloucestershire but relocated to the Stroud area where my grandparents were born. Hope this is of interest to you. Tina
