In Reply to: William H. WARTHEN, Washington Co., GA. by Bill Bryant of 38

William H. Warthen was a private in Co. B, 28th GA Infantry from Washington County, GA. He was born on May 11, 1846 in Washington County, enlisted as a private at Sandersville on March 23, 1864. He was wounded at the Battle of Bentonville (North Carolina) on March 19, 1865. (Same day my GGgrandfather, Angus Alexander Morrison, was wounded at Bentonville). NOTE: There were three other Warthens in that company: Thomas Jefferson Warthen, lieutenant colonel, who was wounded at Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862 and died on July 3), Thomas Jefferson Warthen (his son?) and Macon P. Warthen, both of whom surrendered at Greensboro, NC, on April 26, 1865 at the war's end. Hope this helps.
