Hi Sandy,
I'm new to e mail but have done some research on the Watford family history although only through my father's line.
I have traced the Watfords back to two small villages, adjacnt to each other-East Hoathly & West Chidingley in E Sussex,England. I'm back to 1719 with some certainty to John Watford, born 1719 and have actually got back to a Nicholas Watford who married Sarah and their first son born in 1673 and what appears to be a different Nicholas who married Mary and their first son born in 1684. The Watfords have had various trades from Travelling Shoesmith( Blacksmith) to Market Gardener and Tenant Farmer.Sorry but cannot immediately help you with the link to USA unless you might have a name of the Watford , and date of sailing for the USA. Obviously have many more details which I am quite willing to post to you.. Hope this helps..
P.S. One research basis we use in the U.Kare what are known as the "Morman Microfishe" held at major British Libraries recording births, deaths and marriages - do you not have the equivalent ?
