Seeking any information on Daniel Waters, possibly born in England. His wife was from Rhode Island, name unknown. His son, James Waters was born in 1842 at Dobbs Ferry, NY. Oral history indicates Daniel, went to sea and never returned or abandoned his family. James unable to get along with his stepfather took ship for California in 1852/53 and jumped ship at San Francisco. The ship was reportedly captained by his brother, name unknown. After surviving an Indian attach which killed the remainder of the party, James settled in Sutter County near Knights Landing, CA and farmed the remainder of his live, passing away in 1916.
