Have you seen the 1881 census on the LDS site with your granddad Edmund George in it, father John Wastell and Marie etc? She was Marie Watson, found their marriage in Free BMD. I think John's father could have been either Peter Wastell m. Mary Collieu, 1827 and had John in 1831, but christened him in 1834 (they seem pretty casual about dates) or James Wastell and Elizabeth ?Bellot m. c. 1827 who had John Samuel Wastell in 1838. The latter had a Frederick Samuel also in 1844. But I think it might be the first suggestion.

The marriage certificate for John and Marie Watson might help with the grandparents' names. Their children including Edmund were all christened in Shoreditch.

Marriages Sep 1859
Wastell        John                Hackney        1b       473
Watson        Maria                Hackney        1b       473

I would be interested to hear the subsequent history of your family and to add it to mine. Regards, Gill
