My father was born Thomas Alfred Wasley on 6 August 1909. His parents were Walter Bertie and Nellie Dorcas Wasley. They lived at the time at 27 Eisteddfod Street Cardiff, Wales.

Walter was killed in action in the Royal Navy early in the Great War. Nellie died shortly after him.

My father was placed in an orphanage until 1923. When he left he was informally fostered/adopted by Walter and Caroline Taylor, whose name he took thereafter. He died in 1972.

I got this information from a Statutory Declaration my father made in 1968. I just about remember seeing his birth certificate but no longer have it. I think his father was a dock worker on the timber wharf.

My brother was born in Cardiff in 1940 and now lives in South Africa. He has two sons. I was born in Cardiff in 1947 and now live in Birmingham England. I have a son living in Wolverhampton and a son and daughter living in Fredericton New Brunswick, Canada.

I have two half sisters from my mother's first marriage. Between them they have four daughters and two sons, and six grandchildren.
