This particular Washburn Family is not part of my famil line but I have done a litle researc on it

Fred H. Washburn was born in Pittsburg, Coos Co., NH in Dec 1857, the son of George Washburn & Mira Smith

Hewas found as a child in their husehold in the 1850 and 1870 census of Pittsburg, NH Mira was deceased by 1880, and George is a widower

George was born in Compton, Canada - I believe that is in Quebec

George Washburn was the son of Joseph R. Washburn born 15 Feb 1776 either in Massachusetts or Vermont he died 17 Jul 1861 in Compton Canada [his death listed in the New Hampshire death index] his wife was Sarah Warner born 1787 in Newpor, NH she died 7 Feb 1855 in Pittsburg, Coos Co., NH [New Hampshire Death index]

I do not know who the parents of Joseph R. Washburn are, but it appears he may have spent some time in Vermont.

The notes I have question whether Joseh R. Wshburn went to Vermont as a young man on his own, or as a child in his parents household. George Washburn seems to be a common name in this branch of the famiy. THere was a George Washburn who was a freeman in Bridgewater, Vermont in 1801, as was Reuben Washburn. IT does not appear that George was either a brother or son of Reuben, but perhaps is a close relation. census of Bridgewater Vermot lists George Washburn with a wife, 4 children born between 1794-1810 and an elderly female. Which places George's birth at about 1770. Since most of the Washburn's in this area are from Massachusetts, perhaps George is also. I do not know how George born about 1770 might be related to Joseh R. Washburn b. 1776 but they might be brothers. These men seem to have relations in Hartland, Vermont and its neighboring town of Bridgewater, VT both in Windsor County. Researching thouse area and compton Co., Quebec, Canada may yield further information

There was a George Washburn with War of 1812 serv ice from harland, Vermnt most probably was the son of the above George Washbourn and Joseph R. Washburn named a son George . so perhaps there are some close ties between these people

That is about all I can tell you
