Just my two cents worth here. I am part Washburn as well; my mother's mother was Grace Thompson Washburn, born Feb 25, 1893; her father was John Moore Washburn, his father Thompson Comer Washburn, his father was John Washburn, etc., etc.

I notice several names associated with the Massachusetts Washburns repeating themselves within this group of the family.

THOMPSON Comer Washburn - Thompsons and Washburns married in Massachusetts.

NATHANIEL??? Many Nathaniel Washburns in this family and in Massachusetts.

I am not a pro at genealogy, but wonder if you feel this is any indicator.
