Lou Ann, I wouldn't say you are all wet or even damp. I am still searching. Here is a summary of the notes I have collected from people sharing Washburn data with me: - - The ancestry of John is vague. A generally accepted, but unproven, story is that John is from the family of William Washburn, born about 1601 in Bengeworth, England. William was a brother of John Washburn (different John), born before July 2, 1597, and died in Bridgewater, Mass in 1670. Supposedly some of the family migrated from Massachusetts to Connecticut to Virginia. Several people have been trying for 10 years to prove the parents of John, but with no success.- - My wife is the Washburn, but I am the "family genealogist" in charge of chasing dead ends and broken branches on family trees. If I find any good data WITH SOURCES, I will post it on the Washburn forum. Most of my Washburn data came from three Washburn men, and it appears to be well researched. I don't want to go posting names without submitter's permission because I have been burned before by giving people my data and the next thing I know it is on the internet as is they had done the work. Thanks to Ernie, I am off to prove that Charles Washburn was a patriot in the Revolutionary War so my wife can get another supplemental patriot for the DAR.
