Robin, yes, Washabaugh(Waschenbach/Weschenbach) is German. Apparently all Washabaugh's in the U.S. go back to Thielman (Dilman) Washabaugh, who arrived in 1737. A distant cousin, Craig Washabaugh, 10 Spring Forest Ct., Washington,MO 63090 published a book in 1997,"260 Years of the Washabaugh Family in America". I called him this evening and he still has copies available. He does not have e-mail. His phone number is (636)-239-6609. I am sure he can help you much better than I. A.J. Heck
