According to the 1880 census I have Sallie/Sally, b. 1864, as the daughter of William Joel Wash, b. 1830. I had her mother as Martha J. Houchens, m. Nov. 7, 1853 Albemarle. In this census William's wife is Martha, but she is only 34 and her sisters Betsy and Delia Thurman are living with them. I'm thinking there were two Martha's, as there are Sallie's brothers William, b. 1860, and Eugene, b. 1862, then it skips to John Walla, b. 1875, Berta, b. 1877, Bernard W., b. 1879, Fannie, b. Sept. 3, 1887. I also have a Mattie and James, b. unknown.

Also, Sallie's middle initial is listed variously as A. (1880 census) and E. (1886 marriage). My grandmother (her granddaughter) has her middle name as "Anna-Liza" so it could well have been Ann Eliza.
