Julia,
Thanks so much for the information! My cousin and I are researching the HILL line and we only recently found, through a hired researcher, documents that showed James Harl HILL's father, James HILL, James HILL's father, William HILL, and the names of siblings, Elizabeth HILL (m. Jarrett FINCH, 1818, Rutherford Co. TN, Joshua HILL, Mary HILL FULLER, and Susan HILL(m. John WARREN, 1827, Rutherford Co.) John WARREN, FINCH, and FULLER were listed as spouse's names in the documents. We believe that Joshua may be the Joshua HILL who married Elizabeth MC CUTCHEON in 1829 in Rutherford Co.James H. HILL m. Eve GARNER, 15 Oct. 1827 in Rutherford Co. Shehad a brother named Thomas. If this is our J.H. HILL, Eve would have been a first marriage for him.By 1838, he was in Weakley Co. and was married to Rebecca CROCKETT.We've often wondered if he might have been married previously as he would have been 29 yr. old when his first child that we know of was born.According to the 1830 Rutherford Co. Census, this James H. HILL would have had a child that we can't account for.I'm trying to find a death date for Eve GARNER.We found a James HILL and Susan HILL who were "early members of Rock Springs Church".I'm assuming the HILL family would have probably lived in the vicinity of that church. Thanks again for your help.I'll let you know if I run across anything about your John H.B.E.
