I would like to say a few things about Virgina Rogers genealogy research and this comes from several reliable sources she was a heavy drinker and did alot of her research at home. Many people were given pedigree charts of their family history and it was all messed up. Including mine that she gave me. My mother and sister and aunts went up to Cass Lake where she was employed and sat an talked to her so please her work is not reliable. Another source that is up online is Ojibwe Info by Clara Niska she too has her information twisted and if you send her an email she claims that her stuff is right and she wants you to send her original documentation Well no way would I do that so that it can get lost or changed. There has been a serious conflict over power, fame, struggle concerning ojibwe familys and the decedents. I have been researching now for over 35 years and I know what it is all about and so do they. It has to do with the Claim of who was the original Chief of long ago and all the decendents. The Indian Angency was swiched from Red Lake to Leech Lake to White Earth back to Leech Lake an so on and then from 1847 or earlier there were the treatys. Not everyone knows this but there were serious conflicts on who signed and who didnt. St Croix mentions this on a website. So how what happenend certain familys records were mis handled and lost just to be mean. Not only did this make it difficult to prove your blood line so that you could get enrolled or apply for land allotments and so on. Finally there was the death of Hole In The Day which really triggered alot of hate between familys and that led to a full blown invesitgation starting out with the hinton rolls, then the Mirahm report, then the Linnen Morehead report, Fianlly the Graham Report and a pettition by Charles T. Wright to remove 86 or 96 people from the rolls. So this has been a long standing battle and it is still going on today argueing on who is who. Thank goodness alot of stuff was keept within my own family so that knowing the very root decendents helped me sort out alot of the garbage that is out there.
