Hi Helen, %0d%0aI do not remember if we have corresponded before%2e%0d%0aBut seeing your message about Warrs in Halstock, Dorset and the mention of Wards I becameintriged%2e%0d%0aMy fathers paternal family came from Dorset %28Pulham, Hazelbury Bran and possibly Halstock%29 and were all chrisened Warr but around the time of the First World War when my Grandfather and his Brother signed up for the army they both changed thier surnames to Ward, even thier father ,who was to old ti join also changed his name to Ward until his death when he died a Warr in the death register%2e My grandfather continued with the Ward name after he left the army insisting that was his surname and so is why I also have the Ward name%2e Why they changed thier names I do not know I have heard that Warr isof Gerrman origin and that may be the reseon%2e%0d%0aIt would be nice to hear from you
