William War Family - Claiborne Co., MS. to Ca. & Wa. 1850's through 1920's
Hello War/Warr Family Researchers,
I have a family ledger which named my ancestor's marriage Adeline Ingram to a Mr. War and they moved to California.Through a grave record in Wintergreen Cemetery, Port Gibson, Ms.; a child is buried there within the Ingram grandparents family plot is and this child was James William War, who died in 1850 at age 1 1/2 years. He was listed as the son of Wm. and A. War.I found a widow, Adeline War on the 1870, Santa Clara County, California census, age 53 making her coincide with her birth I have in 1817 also stating she was born in Mississippi; with one surviving son, Charles War age 14, b. 1856 in California.Next I found C. War in 1880, Skamania County, Washington, age 24, single born in California, father b. Virginia and mother b. Mississippi. His ococupation was telegraph operator.I have been able to trace through census records and California death records to find this Charles War, who evidently married a young lady from Oregon and had some children. He next appears in 1920 Census and the family I tracked back to Santa Clara County and surrounding area.
If anyone out there is connected to this Charles War and his family and would like to know more about your Mississippi Roots, please contact me.I have much to share on the grandparents Amaziah Ingram and Charlotte Saxon.
Thank you,
Leslie Pierce Royce
