Zephaniah Nooe 3rd US Infantry, Capt White's Co.

I am looking for my ancestor who fought in the War of 1812 as a Private in the 5th US Infantry in Capt. Strode's (?) Co. from 1808 - April 1813, and in the 3rd US Infantry in Capt. White's Co. from April 1813 - April 30, 1815. This information is from the "War of 1812 Pension Application Files Index" on Ancestry.com. Some people have his date of death as during the Battle of New Orleans, but they have no source listed. I cannot find any verifiable DOD for Zephaniah. Also, he is not listed on any casualty list or list of soldiers on the National Archives website. Zephaniah was born in Essex County VA and shows up in Spotsylvania County VA on tax rolls.
If anyone has any ideas where else to look, I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.
