I have recently discovered that my gggg-grandfather, David Bates served in the War of 1812 as a volunteer in the Georgia Militia, but cannot find him. He supposedly became best friends with a fellow soldier, Anthony Adams, who carried him from the battlefield after being wounded. They both later moved to Autauga County Alabama and bought land. Thanks for any help or info you can provide.
