Searching for 3rd GGrandfather

Trying to find info on my 3rd ggrandfather, John SIVAGE (sometimes misspelled Savage or Sevage), b. ca. 1794; md. Anna MORSE b. ca. 1805, and had 4 children "near Elizabeth City," NC:
Isaiah b. 1826; Lauretta b. 1828; Armstead b. ca. 1830; John b. ca. 1832.
John SIVAGE died on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1837. His son, Isaiah's, biography says John was in the War of 1812, but I'm not sure which side??? This family was Quaker and moved from NC to IN mid-1800s. Any leads appreciated!
