Aaron Hinman (Abt 1775-1813) - info on service needed
Looking for information on how and where an ancestor who served in the war died.
Aaron Hinman, b. 1775 or early 1776 in Woodbury, Litchfield County, CT.Was living in Paris Twp., Oneida County, NY in 1800 with wife and 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls) under the age of 10.Enlisted at Sangerfield, Oneida County, NY on 11 February 1813 in Capt. Asa Morgan's Company of 1st U.S. Regiment of Dragoons. Was reported on the rolls as "in confinement" on 30 June 1813.Afterward, he was transferred to Capt. Arthur P. Hayne's Company of 1st U.S. Regiment Light Dragoons.Died at Sacket's Harbor, NY on 24 July 1813.I do not know how he died.
However, a few days before he died, on 20 July 1813, the Americans fought the British at Cranberry Creek, NY (near or in Alexandria, NY, I believe).I am interested in finding out if he was part of this action, and if he was wounded there (and died a few days later at the hospital at Sacket's Harbor?).Does anybody out there have any information to this end?Or would they be able to point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
