Eric,
You can tell I am an amateur, but that is no excuse for my mistake.Following your patient reply, I actually READ the abstracts of the probate, land grants, etc for the first time in over a year.
"Jeremiah Buchanan, Sr..... was enlisted on 24 Dec. 1812 for five years by Lt. Uriah Allison...transfered to Captain Robert Butler's Co. and marched under Col. E.P. Gaines to the North West Army, after which he was Separated from this Department.....informed by officers that he had died in the Service of the United States".
"Hercules Buchanan of lawful aged being duly Sworn saith that he was well acquainted with the above named Jeremiah Buchanan (his father) and that he died at Eleven Mile Creek near Black Rock in the State of New York in the month of Dec. 1813, then in the Service of the United States"
It was ELEVEN MILE CREEK.Isn't that where the engagement called the Battle of Black Rock or the torching of Buffalo ended?
Joe
