Eight-Mile Creek was near Oswego, New York. Lossing's talks about this army encampment in his book "Pictorial Field Book of the War of 1812." A copy is on-line at: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~wcarr1/Lossing2/Contents.htmlhttp://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~wcarr1/Lossing2/Contents.html
The list of army regiments and the battles that they fought in during the War of 1812 can be found in: Heitman, Francis B., Historical Register and Dictionary of the United States Army From Its Organization, September 29, 1789, to March 2, 1903, volume II, (Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, Maryland: 1994). Many good genealogical libraries will have this book.
The rest of the information is from my many years of research on General Harrison's Army of the Northwest and the regiments in the US Army which served in the War of 1812.
Your cousin was probably requesting militia records from the National Archives and that is why he couldn't find anything. Request the records again as outlined in my last e-mail.
Good luck!
Eric
