The 19th Regiment, along with the 17th and 18th, was part the 5th Brigade, an element of the 2nd Division, commanded by Major General Philemon Thomas.I don’t have the names of Brigade and Regimental commanders.Governor Claiborne issued an order mobilizing the Louisiana militia on 16 December 1814, two days after the British captured the American gunboats on Lake Borgne.It appears that various personnel and elements of the 5th Brigade assembled in Baton Rouge before marching on to New Orleans.These troops didn’t reach New Orleans until after the major engagement on 8 January 1815.
