Hi Margaraet,
Yep, that's the General Society of the War of 1812 website where i first started looking nearly a year ago.
Yes i did contact Secretary General Chambers i.e. the Gentleman from Md. some 3 months ago after i exhausted contacting the NYS Society directly.
I contacted the President and Secretary of the NYS Society almost abt a year ago from addresses i had gotten from a member of another state society and did include the necessary information i.e. proofs in letter to recieve more information on joining and perhaps even an application.
The letters did all arrive as i did not recieve a return to sender, i don't know what's going on as regarded in my post.
I think i may need a sponsor, or may need to know someone within the society before my letters are read.
You would think so they would be eager, but have heard the society is very autonomous. I am at a loss what to do next, keep sending letters to the General Secretary and hope for a response? I guess will write another letter today and hope for the best.
I have 2 ancestors; both my 4th Great Grandfather's who served one an Officer and one a Private during the War all well documented and information on my connection to them and information on their services included in my letters.
Hoping someone could reply from inside the general society, Margaraet are you a member of the Daughters or know anyone who is a member of the General Society?
Looking for someone from the Society to reply please.
Am interested in contacting a member from inside the Society or a former member or someone who knows the society that could help me in obtaining membership information in the NYS Society.
