Photo of soldier online...need help with identity of man and uniform
You can view the photo of John H. Love who may have served in Civil War, or War of 1812 and pre-civil war era. The photo was found among family papers of a descendant of Clinton Love 1804-1874, and is more than likely a relative of his, but we are at a brick wall with Clinton.
John H. Love is wearing a frockcoat that signifies that he was probably a Col, Lt. Col, or a Major from what I have been able to determine from online sources.
He appears to be in his forties in my opinion, but others think he may have been younger.
If you can identify this man's lineage, or even tell us his rank, we would appreciate it.
You will find his photo at www.ancientfaces.com
Click on Military, photos, and "L" surnames, find "Love" and you can view his likeness.
Thanks,
Shirley
