Letter found with soldier John Chatfield / Asst. Adj. Gen. Landers
I found a letter dated February 22, 1902 certifying the war service of Private John Chatfield. Dates of service were Sept. 18, 1813 to Nov 1, 1813. The letter is from the Hartford, Conn. Adjutant General's Office, signed by Wm E F
Landers. Chatfield served under Capt. Daniel Hamilton. This letter was found in a barn in Grayslake (Northeast) Ill. I post this for info. If anyone is related to Chatfield I would consider giving them the letter. Unfortunately the typing, while readable, is not able to be copied on my copy machine. I will try others. The letter has the Adj. Gens. office embossed on it in the lower corner.Hope this helps someone.
Rick
