Robt.Taylor(1793-1871)SC/TN War1812Pension Denied
In June 1878 Robert Taylor's widow, Lucinda Taylor, applied for a surviving spouse pension of Robert Taylor, The affidavit stated that Robert served as a private during the War of 1812 in the company commanded by Capt. Jonathan Waddle in the 4th Regiment, Tennessee Militia commanded by Col. Robert Bagley. The affidavit further stated that he was drafted on or about the sixth--?--, 1814 for a term of sixth months and continued in actual service for about 44 days or until 22nd or 24th day December 1814 when he was discharged. This pension request was rejected April 5, 1880 on the grounds that there was no evidence of the service of this alleged soldier. According to information I have Robert was born in Greenville SC and had moved to Tennessee. He would had been drafted from either Greene or Washington County, Tennessee.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can pursue this matter to confirm whether or not Robert Taylor served during the war of 1812? Thanks for your help.
