Malcolm,
Good to hear from you.I believe we corresponded a few years ago.
I have not done much more on the Warne family, but I did pick up a few details on a few trips the New Jersey.I wasn't able to see Thomas Warne's headstone at Freehold as no one was at the Eposcopal Church the day I was there.
Did we compare notes on the Warfords and Stouts?I determined the ship on which Penelope (Kent / Prinse) Stout came over, and which wrecked in 1647, was named the “Kath.”
I have entered most of my files into familytreemaker, but haven't taken the time to transcribe the information in Labaw's book.I have a photocopy of the chapters dealing specifically with Thomas Warne, his parents, and his son, George and Abigail (Warford) Warne, and my line down through the Hughes family.
I believe that Thomas' parents' marriage is recorded at St. Andrew, Plymouth, Devonshire, England. The transcribed records show:
"Catherine Triplett" and "Stephen Waney" married 4 Dec. 1651.This is undoubtably the same couple."Waney" was apparently mis-transcribed ... it may have been spelled Waryne or something similar.
In a nut shell, my speculation on the time in Ireland is that during the time of the roundheads, they may have been loyalists, or they may have been Catholics.
My e-mail address is still [email protected].
