Many thanks to Linda for all the new information about the Wark/Warke family in Londonderry. I am so grateful to you for the time you put into researching. I had managed to get Henry Warke birth details from a search on I.G.I. Would like to order the certificate but will have to find out address first. Think it will be Colraine Borough Council. Samuel Wark's first wife Mary McAfee, died in Feb 1882, 3 months after giving birth to their 5th child Mary Jane in Nov.1881 [Glasgow] She was 33. Two of their children died before her. Jane, only a few days old, in 1872 and Samuel at 6 months, in 1875. [Another son Hugh died aged 14 in Jun 1893.] The 1891 census for Govan, Glasgow, has Samuel 44, LIZZIE 25,James 15, Hugh 12, Mary Jane 9. The children from Samuel's first marraige. On Samuel's death cert. notes Lizzie Brown Orr as his wife. I had searched many times for the marriage, in Scotland, to no avail. So that was great you finding it. Samuel must have went over to his homeland to find himself a wife. He did not waste time between the death of Mary in Feb. 1882 to marrying Lizzie in Jul. 1882. Annie Warke was the only daughter [she had 6 brothers] I had for Alexander Warke and Jane McAninch/McNeish. I knew she was born in Glasgow in 1869. Her birth cert had her parent's marriage details. I knew nothing further of her. Alexander and Jane were married on 19 Oct. 1847, Macosquin Church. I have the cert. ordered from Colraine Borough Council. There children were SAMUEL b1849c, ALEXANDER, b1852c.In Aghadowey. He was my Gt. Grandfather. ROBERT JOHN, b1856c, WILLIAM b1860c JAMES b1863c, Henry White,b 26 Apr.1866.Co. Derry. All born in Ireland. Possibley Aghadowey area. and of course,Annie b 2 Sep 1869. Glasgow From your info.re Annie's marriage to Robert Scott. I searched Scotland's People and found they were married on 12 Feb. 1897. Another mystery solved, all thanks to you. I find it really difficult getting further with my Wark, and my husband's Flannigan side in Ireland. Hoping to get there later in the year to do some research. Your efforts are really appreciated, many thanks again. If anyone thinks they may be related to this Wark family, please get in touch. Anne Stuart. Notify Administrator about this message?
