Edmund Waring 2nd and Elizabeth Hanford had a son named Edmund Waring 3rd.This Edmund might be the father of your Deborah, but I wasn't able to find her name in any of my local Norwalk CT books.Edmund Waring 3rd had a brother, born in 1729 and a sister, Sarah, born in 1732. That would put him in a good age group to be the father of Deborah.(Elizabeth and Enoch were two other siblings of Edmund Waring 3rd.)
On September 15, several of the local Historical Societies in the area are presenting a Cemetery Tour at Brookside Cemetery in Norwalk. This is the cemetery where Edmund Waring 1st and Elizabeth Bouton Waring are buried.A costumed re-enactor will be playing the part of Elizabeth Bouton Waring. We discovered a bit of interesting information (you might already know this) about the Waring vs. Warren name. The original headstones of Edmund and Elizabeth show the name spelled as WARING.About 1818, a descendant added second stones with the spelling of WARREN.(The first stones are still standing and Elizabeth's stone is very easy to read. The irony is that the 1818 stones are not as easy to read!)Anyway, a researcher discovered that the spelling of WARREN did not appear until after the Revolutionary War when General Joseph Warren of the Battle of Bunker Hill became famous. The Patriot part of the Waring family believed that they were related to Joseph Warren and started to spell their name WARREN.The Loyalist part of the family who moved to New York retained the WARING spelling. However, in Edmund Waring's will, his name was spelled WAREN.Our group has decided that perhaps his name was WARING, but sounded like WARREN when spoken and that perhaps someone took the dictation of the will.I think the most important part is that WARING was inscribed on his grave.
Please let me know when you discover the information on Deborah!
