Hi Stephen! We may be cousins. I have only been working on this for a few months so you probably have more information than I do. My lineage shows Josiah Wardwell and Hannah Westcott as my g-g-g-g-grandparents. I have their son as Charles Wardwell born either 1799 or 1809 (we're still chasing him around) marrying Mary Leach in 1833, Pensobscot, Me. Their daughter Mary Wardwell born ca. 1838 married Leander Bowden (b. 8 Jul 1836) 5 Nov 1865 in Orland, ME. They had three children Georgia Wardwell Bowden (my great-grandmother) b. 4 Oct 1866, d. 2 Jul 1948), Eathal Darling Bowden and Eva Bowden. Georgia (who is often listed as George on websites making her difficult to find - I have seen the census records of 1880 clearly listing her as Georgia and female) married Rufus Peter Facteaux (various spellings of this name - 6 at last count) on 24 Feb 1883 in Orland, ME. Georgia and Rufus had 4 children: Ralph b. 31 Oct 1883, d. May 1966, Ethel b. 30 Oct 1886, d. Jan 1987, Ella (my maternal grandmother) b. 10 May 1895, d. 1962(?) and Oscar b. 12 Jul 1899, d. 10 Feb 1995.

It might interest you to know that I have my great-grandmother's diary from 1934. She makes several mentions of an Albea Snowman from Orland. Is this of any interest to you? Most of her entries are very short and only say things like "Albea Snowman brought me a 1/2 bushel of corn today." It also mentions town meeting where he was elected tax collector. If this is a relative of yours I will go through the diary again and look for any mention of him and anyone else named Snowman - I didn't take notes on the Snowman family since I didn't know at the time that we were related.

If you have any information on Charles Wardwell (son of Josiah and Hannah Westcott) I would appreciate it.
Thanks! Deborah Stewart

ps - if you are interested in my line down through to the current generation I can post it for you too.
