Hi Neil - sorry I don't have any family papers that go back far enough to make the definitive connection between this Charles Wardwell and Josiah. I have seen several web postings and indexes that link the line from Josiah to Charles Wardwell who married Mary Leach. However, it appears that Mary Leach is also a direct descendent of Samuel Wardwell. I've just discovered a pedigree at this URL: http://www.pawireless.com/aem/gen/d0011/gooooo33.html#I22067
which shows Mary Leach's gg grandfather was Daniel Wardwell, s/o Eliakim Wardwell, s/o Samuel. This is the first time I've found much of anything on Mary Leach so I'll be doing some follow-up research on that.

I do have a distant cousin who has done extensive work on the Bowden/Wardwell line and will contact her to see if she has more info for you to make the Charles/Josiah connection.
Regards, Deborah Stewart
