Tony I just spent several hours pouringover my book by John C. Gibson,"The WardlawsIn Scotland".I quote from page 117=18."He, 'that is Henry', began life as aWriter, and is designed Chamberlain 26 Feb.151-2. He was contracted before 23 Sept.1592,and married before 9 July 1594 toElizabeth Wilson, youngest daughter of LucasWilson, merchant burgess of Edinburgh,by hiswife Katherine Uduard, sister to "the honorable Alexander Uduard,Dean of Guild ofEdinburgh." Lucas Wilson had also been Dean of Guild and treasurer of Edinburgh. He died16 April 1589,"ane man of great age." Histestament was regestered 16 April 1591.On9 July 1594 Henry Wardlaw"writer" wasadmitted a burgess and guilg brother ofEdinburgh in right of his wife. Probably hereceived a considerable tocher with her, ason 27 Feb.1596,he and his wife hafd a charter of the mill of Balmule, and in 1598,1599 and1600 they had various charters of the landsand mill of Balmule. InJan. 1597,HenryWardlow is designed,"of Balmule." There is astone now placed over the stable door atBalmule on which are the arms of HenryWardlaw carved on a shield and impaled withthose of his wife,Elizabeth Wilson. Theinitials of both are given, and the dateunderneath is 1605." The rest deals mainlywith Henry. Tony I sure hope this gives yousome help in your search. I hope it is newinformation. Good luck and God bless.
