McKINNEY WEEKLY ENQUIRER, McKinney, Collin Co., TX, January 12, 1878, Vol. 11 No. 47:
"William Frost - Arrested for Murder. After ten years wanderings brought back to stand trial. On December 20, 1867, WM WARDEN was shot, near what is known as Sister Grove Post Office, receiving a severe wound in the arm, necessitating amputation, from which he died about four weeks afterwards. Circumstances pointed to Wm FROST, a neighbor of WARDEN, as the one who fired the shot. He immediately left the country, since which time nothing was heard of him till about December 20th 1877. Deputy Sheriff WARDEN, son of the deceased, together with his brother-in-law, John P. HUNTER, started for Palo Pinto County, where FROST was reported to be living... The posse had little difficulty in finding the man and... placing themselves between him and his arms effected his arrest with little trouble, ...they left immediately, the party arriving at McKinney on Sunday morning, January 6th."
