Dear Diane,
Where do you live? I'm in Beaufort, SC, but was born in Clarksville, Arkansas, where my parents still live. Joesph Reid Warbritton was my great grandfather. He married Geraldine Martin (who was nicknamed "Dine"---pronounced Dean). He came to Arkansas from Huntingdon, TN--Carrol County and settled in Bee Branch, Arkansas.
Their first child was James A. Warbritton who married Victoria Flemming. (Their children were Audrey, Ruth, Cleo, Norma, L. R., and Alice Nell. All children and their spouces are deceased except for Alice Nell who is the youngest, now 85 and lives in Beebe, Arkansas. She has children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.) One of L.R.'s sons has traveled extensively in England researching the Warbritton surname, but we have not read the research.
Virgil Reid Warbritton married Bess Waters. They both lived in died in Los Angeles and had no children.
Leota Warbritton married someone with the surname of "Lee". They had two or three children. Leota died at a young age. She left small children. They lived in Van Buren County, Arkansas.
Lemora Alpine "Allie" Warbritton married Marvin Stracener. Their two children were Verda Stracener Sims and Vivian Stracener Powers. Allie died at a young age and left small children. They lived in Van Buren County, Arkansas. Verda's and Vivian's chidren are still living.
Lillie Amanda Warbritton married Lee Zimmerman and they lived in Tyler, Texas. They had three children: Grayce Zimmerman Maxwell, Iva Lee Zimmerman Korkames, and Morris "Buddy" Zimmerman. There are still children and grandchildren living.
Dovie Lee Warbritton married Joe Johnson. They lived in Conway, Arkansas. Their children were Elliot Johnson, Evadyne Johnson Tatum, J. T. Johnson, and Billie Johnson Kavelaras. There are children and grandchildren living.
Iva (birth name: "Ivie") Allison Warbritton married Edgar Westerfield Moore. They lived in Conway, Arkansas. Their children were Virgil Edgar Moore who married Verna Gene Summers. Their children are Virgil Edgar Moore, Jr., Ronald Wayne and Rebecca Jane. Virgil died approximately twenty years ago. Their daughter is Anita Jean Moore who married Jack West. They live in Clarksville, Arkansas
Anita Jean is my mother and never saw either grandparent because they died before her birth in 1925. She doesn't know when her grandfather died, but her grandmother died in 1922--just before Virgil's birth.
Mother is a retired teacher and I am have been teaching thirty years. My grandmother, Iva, was a retired music teacher. Most of James Warbritton's children were teachers.
