The brazilian Wanderley family is very large and its members are spread out all over the major part of the brazilian states. The first Wanderley to step on brazilian soil was Gaspar van der Ley, a cavalry captain that came to Brazil in the first half of the XVII Century leading troops that ensured the Dutch dominion of Brazil during the period 1624 to 1654. After the Portuguese expelled the Dutch, Gaspar decided to stay in Brazil and there gave origin to the brazilian Wanderley family. The brazilian Wanderley family has an internet page that can be found at the following address: http://www.irwanderley.eng.br/FamiliaWanderley/familiawanderley_ing.htm
The page is enhanced with several links to other webpages that contain interesting information about the family.
There is also a community called Família Wanderley at Orkut that has more than 900 members. Several discussion topics in the community cover the Wanderley family history, including the research on the origins of its ancestor Gaspar van der Ley.
